In this project, we collaborate with teachers from the first year in computer science at Université de Nantes. In their schedule, 5 “cours-conférence” (conference-courses) were given: they consist in self-container 1h20 courses, presenting a concrete use of computer science such as bioinformatics, cryptology, social networks, etc.

The 5 courses  have been recorded and made available to students in an enriched format (synchronized slides, navigation possible through slides or chapters), as a first step.

Next steps include enriching this material with other pedagogical resources, such as as video recordings of commented exercise corrections. We are also considering experimentations with user-produced annotations.

These courses represent as well an opportunity to test various challenges (legal, teacher feelings, etc) on preparing the material (slides, images, sounds) under a Creative Commons license, in order to properly offer them under our principle of openness.

We would like to thank all the professors involved for their participation!
